Women’s Cross Country Finishes 17th at NCAA Regional

Greenville, NC – The Clemson women’s cross country team competed in the 2005 NCAA Southeast Regional on Saturday and finished 17th out of 28 teams. Leading the way for the Lady Tigers was senior Casey Phillips, who was 53rd overall with a time of 21:54.4.

Duke claimed the women’s event with 33 points, while N.C. State (78) and Virginia (149) finished second and third, respectively. The Blue Devils’ Shannon Rowbury was the individual winner with a time of 19:55.2.

Phillips improved on her most recent finish at the ACC Championships with a team-best 53rd finishing spot. Jenny Barton, the Lady Tigers’ top performer all season long, finished 65th overall in a time of 22:08.8. Freshman Ashley Robinson performed well in her first NCAA event, as she was 116th overall (23:06.9). Patrice McMillan (121st, 23:14.5) and Sunday Ford (144th, 23:50.0) rounded out Clemson’s scoring five.
