Women’s Basketball Travels To Florida State For Final Road Game

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemosn women’s basketball team will face its final road test of the 2006-07 season, as the Lady Tigers will travel to Tallahassee for a Thursday night contest against Florida State. The Lady Tigers (12-15, 4-8 ACC) and Seminoles (19-8, 8-4 ACC) are slated for a 7:00 pm tip-off from the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. Fans in the upstate can follow the action on the airwaves via WCCP (104.9 FM) with Dan Scott calling the play-by-play and Kanetra Queen serving as color commentator. The game will also be available on the Internet by accessing livestats on www.clemsontigers.com.

Lele Hardy, the reigning ACC Rookie of the Week, is just one steal away from tying the Clemson single season record for a freshman. She has totaled 86 so far this season, while Ramona O’Neal holds the record with 87 steals during the 1979-80 season. Hardy is also the team’s leading rebounder with a 7.0 average and ranks third on the team in scoring, averaging 11.3 points per game. D’Lesha Lloyd owns a team-best 14.0 scoring average, while Tasha Taylor leads the Lady Tigers with 12.8 points per conference game.

Clemson vs. Florida State, The Series Thursday’s contest will be the 34rd meeting between the Lady Tigers and Seminoles, dating back to the 1980-81 season. Clemson leads the series by a 23-10 margin, but Florida State has won the last nine match-ups, including a 61-60 victory earlier this season at Littlejohn Coliseum. The Lady Tigers’ last win was a 54-43 decision in Tallahassee during the 2001-02 season.

Scouting the Seminoles Florida State enters Thursday night’s match-up with a 19-8 overall record and an 8-4 ledger in ACC action. The Seminoles will be playing their final home game of the 2006-07 season, where they have posted a 9-3 record.

Alicia Gladden leads the Seminoles with a 14.4 overall scoring average and has scored 15.9 points per ACC game this year. She is also averaging 5.9 rebounds per game while boasting a team-best 58 steals. Britany Miller is also averaging in double figures with a 12.2 per game mark and is tied for the team lead in rebounds with Jacinta Moore, as both players average 6.1 per game.

Overall, Florida State posts 68.3 points per game with a 42.7 field goal percentage and a 42.2 rebounding average. The Seminoles allow their opponents just 61.0 points and 34.4 rebounds per game.

Current Players Vs. Florida State D’Lesha Lloyd posted 17 points against the Seminoles earlier this season and is now averaging 8.8 points per game in five career contests against Florida State. Tasha Taylor has also had success when facing the Seminoles, totaling 39 points, 19 rebounds and 18 assists in five games.

Adrianne Bradshaw – has recorded 12 points and nine rebounds in five games against the Seminoles. Christy Brown – scored 10 points with four steals and three assists in this season’s previous game.Morganne Campbell – played just eight minutes with two points in January’s contest. Moreemi Davis – averaging 5.3 points and 3.7 rebounds in three games against Florida State. Lele Hardy – had six rebounds with four points, two assists and a steal earlier this season. D’Lesha Lloyd – brought career average against the Seminoles to 8.8 points per game with a 17-point performance in January …also averaging 5.0 rebounds in five games against Florida State. Tasha Taylor – averaging 7.8 points in five games against the Seminoles …has also totaled 19 rebounds and 18 assists in those games. Carrie Whitehurst – has scored just eight points with nine rebounds in six meetings against Florida State …four of those rebounds were earlier this season. Susan Yenser – is averaging 5.0 points and 3.3 rebounds in three career games against the Seminoles.
