CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s basketball team will make its first trip in history to Miami to face the Hurricanes on Sunday afternoon. The game will be broadcast by Charter/Comcast Sports Southeast and can also be heard on the Internet by accessing www.wccpfm.com. Dan Scott will provide the play-by-play with Kanetra Queen serving as color commentator. The Lady Tigers enter Sunday’s game with a 9-12 overall record and a 1-5 mark in ACC play, while Miami owns a 10-11 ledger with a similar 1-5 record against conference foes.
Junior guard Tasha Taylor has faired well in ACC contests so far this season, averaging a team-best 14.5 points per game and hitting nine three-point field goals. Overall, she ranks second on the team with a 12.4 scoring average, as fellow junior D’Lesha Lloyd owns a 14.8 figure. Lloyd also leads the Lady Tigers on the boards with 7.0 rebounds per game.
Lele Hardy, a rookie from Spartanburg, SC, has had one of the best seasons for an ACC freshman thus far. She ranks first among conference rookies with 6.9 rebounds and 3.38 steals per game. She is then second in scoring with a 10.8 figure and third for assists per game (2.81).
Scouting the Hurricanes Miami enters Sunday’s match-up with a 10-11 overall record and a 1-5 ledger in ACC play. The Hurricanes most recently fell to Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA by a 78-71 margin.
Renee Taylor leads the conference with a 19.4 scoring average. She also ranks second on the Miami team with 43 steals and third with 45 assists. She has drained 45 three-pointers so far this season and is shooting a .858 percentage from the free throw line.
Maurita Reid is also averaging in double figures with a 14.4 figure. She ranks second in the ACC, behind Lady Tiger Lele Hardy, with a 3.24 steals per game average. Brittany Denson leads the Hurricanes on the boards with a 6.9 rebounding average.
Overall, Miami scores 68.6 points per game with a 38.5 rebounding average. They have hit 21 more three-pointers than their opponents, while attempting an additional 94.
Veterans Vs. Miami All six returning letterwinners have seen action against Miami in prior years with junior D’Lesha Lloyd leading the way with a 7.0 points per game average verse the Hurricanes. Fellow junior Tasha Taylor has handed out 15 assists in two games against Miami while also totaling five steals.
Adrianne Bradshaw – has played just 13 minutes in two games against the Hurricanes with four points, three rebounds and two blocks. Moreemi Davis – had four points and four rebounds in 12 minutes of action verse Miami in 2004-05. D’Lesha Lloyd – averaging 7.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in two games against the Hurricanes. Tasha Taylor – has totaled 15 assists and five steals in two games verse Miami. Carrie Whitehurst – has played just 15 career minutes against the Hurricanes, hitting two three-pointers and collecting four rebounds. Susan Yenser – had eight points in just 16 minutes against Miami last season.
