Women’s Basketball to Face James Madison in Harrisonburg, VA on Wednesday

CLEMSON, SC – The Lady Tiger basketball team (3-5) will travel to Harrisonburg, VA for a mid-week contest against James Madison (4-1) on Wednesday night. The teams are scheduled to begin play at 7:00 pm from the JMU Convocation Center. The game will be broadcast in the upstate on WCCP (104.9 FM) with Dan Scott providing the play-by-play and Kanetra Queen serving as color commentator.

D’Lesha Lloyd is Clemson’s leading scorer with a 13.0 points per game average. The junior from Columbia, SC has led the team in scoring in each of the Lady Tigers’ past four games including a 16-point performance against Vanderbilt on Sunday. Tasha Taylor is also averaging in double figures for Head Coach Cristy McKinney’s club with a 12.5 figure. Freshman Lele Hardy leads the team with a 8.4 rebounds per game average while also posting 10.8 points per game. The native of Spartanburg, SC is atop the ACC with a 4.25 steals per game figure, a mark that also ranks third in the nation, as she has recorded 34 steals in the Lady Tigers’ eight games this season.

Scouting the Dukes James Madison enters Wednesday night’s contest having won its last two games for a 4-1 overall record. The Dukes have posted victories over East Carolina, Richmond, Liberty and Virginia Commonwealth in the 2006-07 season.

Meredith Alexis leads the squad in both scoring and rebounding with 21.4 ppg and 12.2 rpg. She is shooting 55.6% from the field with a .708 figure from the foul line. Tamera Young also boasts a double-figure scoring average with an 18.4 point per game figure. She ranks second on the team with a 9.0 rebounding average and leads the Dukes with 10 steals.

Overall, James Madison owns a .403 field goal percentage on 123-313 shooting. The Dukes are averaging 3.2 three-point field goals per game and boast a 43.4-35.8 rebounding margin.

Clemson vs. James Madison, The Series Wednesday night’s contest between the Lady Tigers and Dukes will be just the fourth meeting in history between the two schools and the first since the 1990-91 season. That year, Clemson posted a last-second 57-55 victory over James Madison in the NCAA East Regional semifinals in Philadelphia, PA. The Lady Tigers also won their first match-up against the Dukes, a 90-68 victory at Clemson, SC in the 1979-80 season. James Madison earned the win in the only game played in Harrisonburg, VA, defeating Clemson 70-63 in 1987-88.
