Women’s Basketball Beats Wofford, 102-52

CLEMSON, SC — Nikki Blassingame scored a career-high 15 points in leading 21st-ranked Clemson to a 102-55 win over Wofford in a women’s intercollegiate basketball at Clemson, SC Tuesday night.

With the win the Lady Tigers improve to 18-6 overall, while Wofford drops to 4-19 this season. Clemson is ranked 21st in both the Associated Press and USA Today polls.

Clemson shot a season-high .557 from the floor as the Lady Tigers hit 34 of their 61 shots. The Lady Tigers defense was impressive as Clemson forced 28 Wofford turnovers.

The Lady Tigers are now 11-0 at home this season.

Five Lady Tigers hit in double figures including freshman Nuria Forns who also hit a career-high 14 points. Andrea Gaines tied a career-high as she finished the evening with 11 points, five assists and seven steals.

Wofford was led in scoring by Stacey Parris with 20 points as she was 7-16 from the floor. The Terriers finished the game 18-51 from the field for a .353 pct.

Wofford had a 8-7 lead with 15:08 left in the first half. From this point, Clemson outscored the Terriers 20-5 and built a 27-13 lead with 8:29 to go.

Clemson built its largest lead of the game, 102-50 with 1:07 left to go in the game.

The Lady Tigers have scored 100 or more points 33 times since the program was started in the 1975-76 season. This marked the seventh time, twice this season, that the Lady Tigers have reached the century mark under Head Coach Jim Davis.

Clemson will play at Maryland, Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in a key Atlantic Coast Conference game in the Lady Tigers’ next action.
