CLEMSON, SC-Two junior college players have signed national letters of intent to play women’s basketball at Clemson University in the 2001-02 season as announced by Clemson Head Women’s Basketball Coach Jim Davis Wednesday.
Tia Andrew played at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, OK. Andrew averaged 7.0 ppg. and 10.6 rpg. She also averaged 6.5 blocked shots per game.
Leah Roper played at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, FL. Last season, she averaged 17.6 ppg. and 7.0 rpg. “Tia Andrew gives us a rebounder with collegiate experience,” said Clemson Head Coach Jim Davis. “Her size and strength gives us a physical presence in the paint that we so desperately need.
“Leah Roper is a tremendous athlete. Her size, quickness, and speed in the open court will allow her to defend any player on the opposing team and she will fit in well with our up-tempo style of play. Leah was named to the NJCAA All-American Team.”
