Westbrook Tabbed ACC Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following a career performance against Davidson, graduate transfer Simone Westbrook was tabbed ACC Player of the Week, as voted on by the Blue Ribbon Panel. Westbrook is the first Clemson Tiger to earn Player of the Week honors since Nikki Dixon did so in 2014.

Westbrook poured in a career-high 30 points against Davidson on Sunday afternoon, becoming the first Tiger to eclipse the 30-point mark since Nov. 30, 2017 when fellow guard Danielle Edwards tallied 33 at Nebraska.

The Chandler, Arizona native shot an impressive 70.6 percent from the field and set a new career-high with 12 made field goals in the game. Her pair of 3-pointers led the Tigers on the afternoon and the guard knocked down 4-of-5 shots at the charity stripe.

Westbrook provided a spark on defense for the Tigers, totaling five steals, three of which resulted in baskets for Clemson. With five steals on the night, the guard eclipsed the 100-steal plateau in her career.

Her play on both sides of the ball kickstarted a 16-point comeback that culminated in the Tigers taking the lead with 1:41 to go in the third quarter. Despite a 10-point third quarter by Westbrook, Marshall regained the lead and sustained it for the rest of the game.
