Clemson Athletics’ Social Summer promotion continues today, July 17, with Web Wednesday. Each week a story that encompasses the Clemson experience will be featured on our webpage. This week’s memory comes from Jennifer Schneider. Jennifer tells how she connected with her husband over their mutual love of the Tigers.
I had just moved to Columbia from Seneca in December 2004. My roommate (a Clemson grad) and I were at Five Points early one Saturday evening. Since I was new to the town, I was always trying to make new friends. Mark, my now husband, was out with his high school best friend for his bachelor party. It is rare to run into a Clemson fan in Five Points, so when I saw Mark from across the room I told my roommate that I was going to talk to him. I walked over, tapped him on the shoulder, and when he turned around I yelled “Go Tigers!” and we struck up a conversation. Neither Mark nor I are Clemson graduates but we grew up fans. After many phone calls over the next few months we went on our first date in March 2005. We got married in June 2007 and we even had our wedding pictures taken inside Memorial Stadium with The Rock!!! We now have two little girls that knew how to spell Clemson Tigers (via Cadence Count) before they could even spell their own names.
