A key play in Clemson volleyball’s win over Georgia Tech last Friday has been selected as a finalist in the Volleyball Market/AVCA Play of the Week contest on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) website. The play that was chosen resulted in a block by sophomores Lacy Hayes, and gave the Tigers a 14-13 lead in the fifth set.

Overall in the point, the ball crossed the net 13 times, there were 45 total touches, and 10 digs during the point, which lasted almost a minute. The play ended when Tech’s Jennifer Percy had to hit a roll shot, and Rand and Hayes timed it perfectly and sent the ball to the floor for a huge block.
Rand would go on to block the next attack by Monique Mead, clinching the match for the Tigers, and giving them the conference-opening win.
The team returns to action Friday at 7:00 pm with Wake Forest, and hosts a Solid Orange match against Duke on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
