CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson volleyball team will play its final match of the spring season on Wednesday night as the Tigers make the short trip to Greenville, SC for a date with the Furman Paladins. The teams are slated to begin play at 5:00 pm at Alley Gymnasium on the Furman campus.
Through two tournaments, Clemson boasts a 6-2 record, which includes a pair of wins last weekend at its own spring event. The Tigers also finished second in the College of Charleston Spring Tournament on Mar. 28 with wins over Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Charleston Southern and the host-Cougars.
Rising juniors and three-year starters Lia Proctor, Didem Ege anchor the line-up for Head Coach Jolene Jordan Hoover. Proctor and Murphy were first-team All-ACC selections last season on the outside and at the setter position, respectively. Libero Ege has also earned all-conference honors in her career.
Cansu Ozdemir, Brittany Fennell and Lisa Jedlicka return with starting experience while Lacy Hayes and Katie Sharpe played their first seasons as Tigers during the fall of 2008. Hoover gained the service of red-shirt Jessica Williams, who sat out the 2008 season due to transfer rules, for the spring schedule and the native of Houston, TX quickly earned a spot in the line-up. Brooke Kohler has also seen her first action at Clemson after a shoulder injury forced her to sit out her true freshman campaign in the fall.
