Volleyball Set to Host FSU and Miami

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team is set to host Florida State Wednesday and Miami Friday in Jervey Gym for the final two matches of the 2017 season. Both contests will commence at 2 p.m. with Friday’s match against the Seminoles serving as Senior Day to honor setter Keely Hayes, defensive specialist Kennedy Wilson-Talmadge and former outside hitter and current student manager Meghan Hanewall.

Notes:

  • The Tigers dropped their pair of matches last week at Ga. Tech (17-25, 19-25, 18-25) Wednesday and Pittsburgh (17-25, 21-25, 13-25) Friday.
  • Sophomore outside hitter Kaylin Korte totaled nine kills while hitting .353, her second best hitting percentage against in ACC foe this season against the Panthers Friday.
  • Junior middle blocker Megan McGinley, posted a season-high 6.0 blocks against then first-placed Pittsburgh.
  • Against the Yellow Jackets, the Tigers were led by Kaylin Korte, who posted her sixth straight match with double-digit kills … Korte had arguably her best all-around performance of the season against the Yellow Jackets, tallying six digs and 4.0 blocks in addition to her 11 kills.
  • Setters Keely Hayes and Caroline Pearson combined for 30 of the Tigers’ 32 assists in Atlanta Wednesday … Hayes totaled 14 in two sets played, while Pearson tallied 16 and had a service ace in two sets played.
  • FSU is currently one of five ACC teams riding at least a four-match winning streak … In their last four matches, the Seminoles have wins over Syracuse (25-17, 25-19, 28-30, 26-24), Boston College (25-20, 25-17, 25-13), at Virginia Tech (25-17, 25-21, 20-25, 25-21) and at Virginia (16-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-19).
  • The Seminoles rank second in the ACC in blocks per set (2.76) against ACC foes … freshman middle blocker Taryn Knuth accounts for 1.48 blocks per set to lead the league (99 on the season).
  • The Hurricanes lead the league in service aces per set (1.60) and are tied for first in total service aces (112) on the year against league opponents.
  • Miami senior outside hitter Olga Strantzali leads the conference in points per set (4.94) ranks second in the ACC in kills per set (4.36) against ACC opponents.
  • Sophomore middle blocker Jaden Light accounted for 10.0 of Clemson’s 16.0 blocks at Wake Forest, tied for second-most in a single match in the ACC this season.
  • Caroline Pearson’s 57 assists in the Tigers’ opening match of the season against Bethune-Cookman stands the most by a Tiger this season and is tied for ninth-most in a single match by an ACC player this season.
