Volleyball Set for Mid-Week Match at Kennesaw State Wednesday

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team (4-2, 0-0 ACC) will look to extend its winning streak to four matches as they take on the Kennesaw State Owls (5-0, 0-0 ASUN) Wednesday night at the KSU Convocation Center. Clemson is riding a three-match win streak after going 3-0 to win the Appalachian Invitational championship … The Tigers won back-to-back five-set matches against Mississippi State and Appalachian State, respectively, before sweeping Davidson to claim the tournament title … Head coach Michaela Franklin is currently 3-0 in five-set matches as Clemson head coach … Clemson’s lone five-set win in 2017 came against current then Jacksonville head coach Julie Darty, who is now in her first season as Mississippi State head coach … Solei Thomas was named ACC Freshman of the Week after averaging 3.85 kills per set while hitting .387 at the Appalachian Invitational, where she was named Tournament MVP … The Detroit native also accounted for a team season-high 20 kills in the Tigers’ five-set over Appalachian State Saturday … Thomas currently ranks 10th in the ACC in hitting percentage (.355) … Clemson also benefited from the performances of freshman setter Gabby Easton, who was named to the Appalachian Invitational All-Tournament Team and is currently leading the ACC in assists (269) and assist per set (11.70) … Easton also poured in the conference’s top-3 assist performances at the Appalachian Invitational with 60 (vs. Appalachian State), 54 (vs. Mississippi State) and 51 (vs. Davidson) … Sophomore Alyssa Deloney was joined Thomas and Easton on the All-Tournament Team … While at Appalachian State,  Deloney averaged 2.92 kills per set, led the team in hitting (.500) and ranked second on the team in blocks per set (0.62) … Freshman Torie Frederick made her debut at libero while at the Appalachian Invitational and posted and where she recorded three consecutive matches with at least 20 digs, a feat no Clemson defender achieved in 2018 … Frederick recorded back-to-back 25-dig matches in the Tigers’ five-set wins over Mississippi State and Appalachian state … In Clemson’s win over Davidson, Frederick totaled 22 digs in just three sets.
