Clemson volleyball plays host to Georgia Tech on Tuesday in ACC action from Jervey Gym. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM. The Yellow Jackets put their 2-0 ACC record on the line against the 1-1 Tigers.
Clemson has an 8-5 overall record, including an 8-3 record at home. The Tigers easily defeated N.C. State 3-0 over the weekend, before falling to North Carolina in a 2-3 thriller Saturday evening. The Yellow Jackets swept both N.C. State and North Carolina last weekend.
The Tigers have been led by a host of performers this season, including senior captain Leslie Finn. The San Diego, CA native leads Clemson and is second in the ACC with 5.00 kills per game, and she also leads the squad in total with 230 kills on the season. Finn has eight double-doubles to her credit this year.
Brittany Ross and Lori Ashton are second and third, respectively, on the Clemson team in kills. Ross, a freshman from Sunrise, FL, has been impressive with 179 kills and a 3.81 per game average. Ashton leads the team with a .310 hitting percentage, in addition to 160 kills and 52 total blocks. Defensively, libero Anna Vallinch broke her own record over the weekend with 35 digs in Jervey Gym versus North Carolina. She has 216 digs on the season.
For Georgia Tech, outside hitter and two-time All-American Lynnette Moster leads the team with 197 kills. She averages 4.93 per game, in addition to 127 digs. Jayme Gergen has 134 kills on the season and leads the squad with a .386 hitting percentage and 59 total blocks.
The Yellow Jackets began the season 0-4, but have since won seven of their last eight contests. Three of Georgia Tech’s early-season losses were to ranked teams at the time. Georgia Tech is under the direction of third-year head coach Bond Shymansky, who has a career 74-15 record with the Yellow Jacket program.
