Volleyball Hosts Clemson Classic Friday & Saturday

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team hosts William & Mary, Wofford and Tennessee State in the Clemson Classic this weekend. The Tigers (6-1) will play against William & Mary (4-3) on Student Appreciation night, Friday at 7 p.m. Clemson takes on Wofford (2-2) at 12:30 p.m. and Tennessee State (1-6) at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

In addition to the three Clemson contests, William & Mary, Wofford and Tennessee State also square off in Tigertown this weekend. The complete schedule for the tournament is available here. All matches take place in Jervey Gym and are open to the public with free admission.

The Tigers are currently 6-1 with wins over South Carolina (3-1) and Winthrop (3-1) and a loss to Furman (2-3) last weekend at the Battle of South Carolina. Clemson’s defense has been strong so far; it’s average opponent hitting percentage ranks first in the ACC (.081). Seniors Karis Watson (3rd in ACC) and Haleigh Hampton (9th in ACC) lead the teams blocking efforts. Senior Niki Collier leads the backcourt; her 3.52 digs per set average places her at 10th in the ACC.

The Tigers are tied with William & Mary in the overall series (2-2), although the last time the two teams met was in 1997. Clemson has the advantage over both Wofford (3-0) and Tennessee State (2-0).

    • Autographs after the 7 p.m. match vs. Tennessee State
  • Throughout the weekend, the “Best Seats in the House” will be available, and fans will have the chance to sit in this special area based on a raffle before each match.
