Volleyball Falls To Florida State In Five Games

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Clemson volleyball team fell to Florida State 3-2 (30-21, 22-30, 20-30, 30-27, 15-6) on Friday night in Tully Gym. The Tigers drop to 12-11 overall and 2-6 in ACC play, while the Seminoles improve to 10-9 on the season and 2-5 in league play.

Clemson’s Lori Ashton tallied 10 kills, a .304 hitting percentage and a match-best 10 blocks (three solo), while Ryane Beasley recorded nine kills with five blocks. Leslie Finn added nine kills with 13 defensive saves, and Liz Beckham had nine kills on the night. Marija Zoric posted seven blocks (one solo) with five kills and a .364 hitting percentage. Lindsey Abbott led the Tigers in defensive saves with 19, and Carly Hill served up a match-high four aces. Stephanie Haskell handed out 33 assists with 12 digs and five blocks (one solo).

Cassie McLaughlin led the Seminoles with 18 kills, 18 digs and three service aces. Nikki Anthony tallied 15 kills with four blocks (one solo), and Aisha Carr added 12 kills with four blocks. Sarah Griffen tallied 12 digs with nine kills, and Kristen Rust tallied eight kills and six digs. Amanda Santos led the team at the net with six blocks (one solo), and Cerina Pele tallied a match-high 21 defensive saves. Jennifer Anderson tallied 32 assists with eight digs, while Jessica Skower 29 assists with four blocks.

The Tigers return to action on Oct. 21 as Clemson plays host to Appalachian State at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free to all home matches in Jervey Gym.
