Volleyball Falls To Duke, 3-0

DURHAM, N.C. – The Clemson volleyball team fell to the Duke Blue Devils 3-0 (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) on Friday night in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils improve to 6-11 overall and 2-3 in ACC play, while the Tigers fall to 12-8 overall and 2-3 in conference action.

Junior Lori Ashton recorded her 1,000th career kill in tonight’s match against Duke. The middle hitter tallied seven kills against Duke and needs only 33 more kills to break into Clemson’s top 10 list for most career kills.

The Tigers were paced by Leslie Finn with 15 kills, while Ryane Beasley added eight kills with three blocks (one solo). Ashton added seven kills with a match-best seven block (three solo), and Liz Beckham posted six kills with two service aces. Lindsey Abbott recorded a match-best 16 digs, while Meghan Stanton tallied eight digs. Stephanie Haskell handed out 28 assists with two blocks and two service aces.

Duke had three players in double-digit kills including Krista Dill with 14 kills and a match-best .435 hitting percentage. Katie Gillman tallied 14 kills with nine digs, while Tassy Rufai recorded 12 kills with nine digs. Stephanie Istvan had a match-high 12 digs, and Nana Meriwether posted seven blocks (two solo). Arielle Linderman had 44 assists with nine digs and five blocks (one solo).

The Tigers will travel to Winston-Salem on Saturday to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
