Raleigh, NC – Clemson downed N.C. State 3-0 on Saturday (30-23, 30-23, 30-23) at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, NC. The Tigers improved to 14-9 with the win, 5-5 in the ACC. The Wolfpack fell to 10-14, 0-10 in conference play.
Leslie Finn led the Tiger offensive attack with 19 kills, while Brittany Ross contributed 12 kills. Finn recorded another double-double with 12 digs as well. Anna Vallinch led the Tigers with 17 digs. Kassie Staup and Leslie Mansfield had six total blocks each. The Tigers had 11 service aces in the match.
Melanie Rowe led the Wolfpack with 17 kills, while setter Lauren Markowski had 38 assists. Andrea Bentley had 13 digs for the Wolfpack, while Stefani Eddins had seven total blocks.
In game one, the Tigers got off to a 10-1 start and never looked behind. Finn had eight kills in the first game for Clemson. Trailing 16-14 in game two, Clemson scored seven straight to take a commanding 21-16 lead. Lori Ashton had five kills and two aces in that game.
The Tigers clinched the match in the third after scoring seven straight while trailing 8-7. Finn had nine kills in the deciding game for the Tigers.
Next up for the Tigers is a home match versus Georgia Southern on Tuesday, October 26. The two teams square off at 7:00 PM.
