Volleyball Defeats Virginia, 3-2

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team defeated Virginia 3-2 Saturday night at Jervey gym. The Tigers took a 15-9, 15-11, 4-15, 8-15, 13-15 victory over the Cavaliers. Head coach Jolene Jordan Hoover broke the record for Clemson volleyball wins, recording her 139th career win.

Junior Alison Coday led the Tigers, recording 23 kills, six errors and 58 attempts for a .293 hitting percentage. Cindy Stern had 12 kills in the win, and freshman Jodi Steffes and senior Stephanie Schulz each recorded 11 kills in the matchup. Schulz led the team with nine block assists. Sophomore Missy Kudelka had 55 assists, and led the team with 16 digs.

Virginia (22-6, 9-4 ACC) was led by Katie Jones, who hit .444 with 21 kills, five errors and 36 attempts. Andrea Fischer had 20 kills in the match. Claire Folga tallied 20 digs, while Mary Frances Scott had 77 assists and 16 digs.

Clemson (18-8, 9-5 ACC) will play host to the College of Charleston Wednesday at 7 p.m. to conclude the Tigers’ home season.
