Volleyball Adds Two Newcomers for 2005 Season

Clemson head coach Jolene Jordan Hoover has announced that two high school standouts, Katie Bridges and Emilie Crigler, will join the Tiger volleyball team in August of 2005. The two join a freshman class that already consists of three signees, Jeanette Abbott, Amber Campbell, and Danielle Hepburn.

“We are excited to have both of these young women join our program,” Hoover said.

Bridges is a 5-9 outside hitter and defensive specialist who was a three-sport athlete at nearby Pickens High School. Bridges, a 2004 North-South All-Star participant, was the AAA volleyball Player of the Year as a senior. She also was named All-State according to the High School Sports Report. Bridges led Pickens to three state championships and also earned two letters in both basketball and track.

Crigler, a 5-7 defensive specialist from Flat Rock, NC, also lettered in three sports. The East Henderson High standout earned four letters in volleyball and basketball, and also one in softball. She was a member of the Henderson County All-Star basketball team and participated in the WNL All-Star Blue & White basketball game. She was also a Wendy’s High School Heisman nominee.
