CLEMSON – Perhaps it says the most about Lyles Davis that Elijah Thomas – who had just scored 23 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked a career-high seven shots – declared Davis the Player of the Game following Clemson’s 64-37 win against Wake Forest last Sunday.
Thomas had good reason for the nomination.
Davis, a little-used reserve guard in his four seasons as a walk-on for the Clemson basketball team, entered the game with a couple of minutes remaining and promptly made the first 3-point shot of his career, resulting in a raucous celebration among both fans and the Tigers’ bench.
