CLEMSON, SC – Tiger volleyball players Leslie Finn and Lori Ashton were named to the 2003 AVCA All-East Region team announced Wednesday. Finn is now eligible for All-America honors after earning first-team all-region accolades. The 2003 AVCA All-America team will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
Finn, a junior outside hitter from San Diego, CA, led the Tigers with 568 kills and a 4.40 kills per game average. She was second on the team in digs with 354 and served up 32 aces on the season. The 2003 All-ACC team member completed the regular season with the conference’s top kills per game average and was named ACC Player of the Week on Sept 29. Finn posted 17 double-doubles this season, led the Tigers in kills in 19 matches and posted 20 or more kills in 12 matches.
She ranks seventh in Clemson’s record books in career kills with 1,222 and fifth in kills per game with a 3.67 average. Finn’s 568 kills this season ranks second all-time in Clemson’s season records. She ranks third in match records for most kills after posting 31 kills against Maryland on Oct. 21, and also ranks fifth in the same list for her 29-kill performance against Virginia on Oct. 3.
Ashton, a junior middle hitter, earned honorable mention honors after posting 447 kills with a 3.41 kills per game average. She posted a team-best .295 hitting percentage and was second on the team in blocks with 151 (50 solo) and a 1.15 per game average. The Waldorf, MD native was named to four all-tournament teams this season, including the ACC All-Tournament team.
Ashton ranks third in Clemson’s record books in all-time hitting percentage (.324) and is ninth in career kills with 1,195. She also ranks seventh all-time in block solos with 100 and is ninth all-time in block assists with 261. This is the second consecutive AVCA All-Region honor for Ashton.
