June 24, 2010

CLEMSON, SC – Tricia Harm has been named an assistant men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach at Clemson as announced by Tiger Head Coach Chris Ip Thursday afternoon.

“I am excited and pleased to be at Clemson as an assistant swimming and diving coach,” said Harm. “It’s great to be part of the Clemson family. I look forward to working with the men and women student-athletes at Clemson.”

Harm comes to Clemson from the University of Miami after spending two years as an assistant coach with the Hurricanes.

Prior to beginning her stint at Miami, she arrived from The Ohio State University where she spent a season as a volunteer assistant coach.

“I am proud to welcome our new assistant coach Tricia Harm to the Clemson Swimming staff,” said Coach Ip. “Tricia brings another competitive dimension to the swim program. As a member of the 2005 University of Georgia National Championship team, Tricia was an American Record holder, and received multiple NCAA All American honors. She will be a great role model for our student-athletes. Tricia has an energetic personality that automatically gets you dialed in to the task at hand.

“Her eclectic coaching style will blend well with our staff and complement the goals of the swimming program. Tricia will be working with the sprint freestylers and the stroke sprinters. She is well versed in promoting the ACC’s philosophy for the student-athlete, spending the last two years coaching with the University of Miami’s women’s swimming and diving program.”

Harm was an All-American swimmer for the University of Georgia from 2002-06. She was a member of the 2005 NCAA Championship squad, as well as the 2006 team that captured the Southeastern Conference title by upsetting heavy-favorite Auburn. In 2006, Harm participated in the 200-yard medley relay squad that won the NCAA championship.

In her career at Georgia, Harm was named as an All-American eight times and was also an Academic All-American. She is also a three-time qualifier at the United States Olympic Swimming trials.

She set the school record in the 400-yard freestyle relay and still holds the individual record for the Bulldogs in the 200-yard individual medley relay and 200-yard medley relay. On her way to helping the Bulldogs collect the 2006 NCAA title in the 200-yard medley relay, she also finished as a runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley. Harm went on to collect a second place finish in both the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relay.

She is currently ranked in the top 10 in UGA history in the 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard freestyle relay. Harm was named as a team captain in her senior season. She also set the American record in the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Harm is a native of Philadelphia, PA. She earned a degree in Sports Studies from the University of Georgia in 2006, as well as a minor in Sociology. She went on to attain a master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Management from The Ohio State University.
