Travis Padgett to Compete with Former Tiger Champions at Tyson Invitational

Sophomore sprinter Travis Padgett is one of two collegians to receive a special invitation to race with professionals in a featured 60m dash Friday, February 9 at the famed Tyson Invitational. Padgett was invited along with Florida State All-American Walter Dix. Padgett, an All-American as a freshman in the 100m, will be pitted against former Tiger champions Shawn Crawford and Jacey Harper in Friday’s field of eight sprinters. The event, which will take place at the Tyson Center at the University of Arkansas, will be held at 9:45 PM Friday evening. The action can be seen tape delayed on ESPN-2 Sunday, February 11 from 1:00-3:00 PM.

Padgett is ranked #1 in the ‘Dandy Dozen’ in the 60m according to Trackwire. He has posted NCAA qualifying marks and won all three 60m races in which he has competed so far this season. Crawford, an Olympic gold medalist in the 200m in 2004, was a three-time ACC 60m champion for Clemson from 1998-2000. He currently has won two 60m crowns as part of the VISA Championship Series for USA Track & Field. Harper was the 60m champion in the ACC in 2001 and competed in the Olympics for Trinidad & Tobago in 2000.
