Clemson freshman Travis Padgett is set to compete at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships this week at the Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium in Indianapolis, IN. The Shelby, NC native will compete in the 100m dash among a group of amateurs and professionals hoping to make Team USA’s roster for the World Championships. Included in the 100m field will also be former Clemson track star and Olympic gold medalist Shawn Crawford (1997-2000).
Padgett will compete in the first round of the 100m dash on Thursday at 6:55 PM Eastern time. Padgett is coming off one of the most decorated freshman seasons in school history. He was named ACC Freshman of the Year after capturing the conference title in the 100m. He also won at the Penn Relays, a first for Clemson men’s track & field. Padgett set the school, ACC, and East Region record with a time of 10.00 seconds on his way to winning the NCAA East Regional title as well. Most recently, Padgett placed fourth at the NCAA Championships and earned his first All-America honor.
