Clemson Notes:

  • Junior sprinter Rebekah Smith (7.29) currently leads the Tigers, ranking 14th nationally and third in the ACC in the 60m dash. Smith (23.52) also ranks 23rd nationally and third in the ACC in the 200m dash. Smith is slated to compete in both events at this weekend’s Tiger Paw Invite.
  • Alongside Smith, the Tiger women are led by Kamryn McIntosh and Logan Morris.
  • McIntosh (2:08.07), who has only given a true effort in one open 800m this season, currently ranks 29th in the country and fifth in the conference. McIntosh is scheduled to race in Saturday’s 800m race on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
  • Last weekend, Morris (9:23.00#) ran Clemson’s No. 4 time in program history in the 3000m at the Camel City Invitational. Morris has PR’d in four different events (800m, 1000m, mile and 3000m) this indoor season. The Inman, South Carolina native is entered in the 800m in heat No. 2 alongside Clemson senior Imani McGowan.
  • The combination of McIntosh, Morris, McGowan and Andrea Foster, who will compete in heat No. 1 of the women’s 800m alongside McIntosh, collectively rank third on USTFCCCA’s #EventSquad rankings as of Feb. 4. These rankings place a rank order to a program’s “squad” of athletes in a particular event, using the cumulative season-best qualifying marks from a team’s top-four ranked athletes on the national descending-order list.
  • On the men’s side, senior John Lewis (1:50.57) will look to move up in the national rankings in the men’s 800m. Lewis is entered in section 1 of 5 in the men’s 800m Saturday. Lewis, a First Team All-American in the indoor 800m last season, currently ranks 48th in the open 800m, having only competed in one 800m race this season at the Bob Pollock Invitational two weeks ago. Lewis will also likely run for the Tigers’ 4x400m relay team Saturday afternoon.
  • Newcomer LaFranz Campbell (7.85), who specializes in the high hurdles, is the highest ranking Tiger on the men’s side. Campbell ranks 23rd nationally and third in the ACC. Campbell is set to race in Friday’s preliminary round of the 60mH, which is slated for 3:55 p.m.
