Track & Field to Host Clemson Invitational on Friday and Saturday

CLEMSON, SC – The track & field program will play host to the Clemson Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the school’s indoor facility. The meet, which features a total of nine schools (men and women), begins Friday at 5:00 PM and Saturday at 10:00 AM. Joining Clemson at the meet will be Bethune-Cookman, East Tennessee State, Georgia Tech, Jackson State, Johnson C. Smith, SC State, UAB, and Wofford.

Friday’s action gets underway with both track and field events at 5:00. The 60m hurdle prelims will kick off the action on the track, while the field will feature the women’s high jump and shot put, as well as men’s triple jump. Prelims for the 60m dash will begin at 5:30 PM. Other running events scheduled for Friday include the 300m (unseeded), 500m (unseeded), 5000m, and distance medley relay.

Also in the field on Friday, the women’s pole vault is scheduled for 6:30 PM. Following that event is the women’s triple jump (7:00) and men’s shot put (7:30).

Saturday’s action begins with the men’s high jump at 10:00 AM. The first running event will be the women’s 3000m at 11:00. That event will be followed by the men’s 3K, then the 400m dash (12:00 PM), mile, seeded 300m, seeded 500m, 800m, 200m dash, and 4x400m relay.

Other field event action Saturday includes the men’s (11:00) and women’s (1:30) long jump, the women’s (11:00) and men’s (1:30) weight throw, and the men’s vault (1:30).

Clemson has one meet under its belt already, having competed in the Roaring Tiger Opener last month at the same facility. Among the top performers were Alex Padgett, who produced a personal indoor best in the shot put with a mark of 55’8.5″, and Linda Buchholz, who won the high jump with a clearance of 5’7.75″. Brittney Waller of Greenville, SC made her debut in the throws for the women’s team, winning the 20-pound weight by moving into seventh in the school’s record books after a mark of 54’2″.
