Track & Field Set for NCAA East Prelims

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson track & field team heads to Tampa, Florida for the NCAA’s East Regional preliminary meet, which is set to take place at the University of South Florida’s USF Track & Field Stadium, May 24-26. The Tigers tallied a combined 25 entries between both the men’s and women’s teams according the to meet’s start list. The NCAA announced an adjusted schedule for this week’s regional preliminary Wednesday afternoon. Clemson senior Deron Gordon will get things started for the Tigers Thursday at 12:30 p.m., in the second heat of the men’s 400m hurdles.

The NCAA preliminary rounds act as the gateway to the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships. The top-24 relay teams and top-48 competitors in each event earn a place in their respective region. By the end of the weekend, the top-12 finishers in each event advance to the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships, which will be held in Eugene, Oregon at the Ducks’ Hayward Field.
