Track & Field Ready For ACC Championships

Clemson Notes:

  • The Tigers are seeking their 13th ACC indoor title on the men’s side and seventh indoor title on the women’s side.
  • The last time Clemson won an ACC title was under current head coach Mark Elliott when the Tigers swept indoor and outdoor championships on the women’s side in 2015.
  • Last season, Clemson placed third overall on both the men’s and women’s side (tied) … The Clemson men totaled 76 points, while the women tallied 73 to tie with Louisville.
  • The Tigers’ roster currently holds two individual ACC champions in Chris McBride (long jump, 2017) and Rebekah Smith (60m, 2017).
  • Last season, Jeffrey Green (400m), Jeremiah Green (triple jump) and Clemson’s 4x400m relay consisting of Jeffrey Green, Cordell Lamb, John Lewis and Deonte Tolbert took home gold medals … On the women’s side, Olivia James, Kendra Clarke, Kamryn McIntosh and Fellan Ferguson won the 4x400m relay conference title … Both 4x400m groups set championship meet records on their home track.
  • Rebekah Smith (60m, 4th), Rebekah Smith (200m, 3rd), Deonte Tolbert (400m, 4th), Malik Epps (800m, 5th,), John Lewis (800m, 7th), Kamryn McIntosh (800m, 5th), Andrea Foster (800m, 8th), Logan Morris (mile, 3rd; 3000m, 8th), LaFranz Campbell (60mH, 2nd), Ebony Williams (8th, 60mH), Anthony Hamilton (high jump, 7th), Kenya Livingston (high jump, 1st), Chris McBride (long jump, 2nd), DJ Ledell (triple jump, 8th), Harleigh White (triple jump, 2nd), Grant Voeks (shot put, 3rd), Janell Fullerton (shot put, 8th) and Joe Cline (weight throw, 7th) all currently rank within scoring distance for the Tigers.

ACC Network Extra will return to provide coverage at the Friday and Saturday sessions. The broadcast team will again feature former Olympic decathlon gold medalist Dan O’Brien as color analyst, reprising the role he first filled at the 2015 ACC Outdoor Championships. He will be joined by play-by-play announcer Shawn Kenney, distance analyst David Mitchell and trackside reporter Hanna Yates from 4 p.m. through p.m. on Friday and from 1 p.m. until the meet’s conclusion (approximately 5 p.m.) on Saturday.
