CLEMSON, S.C. – Mark Elliott, Clemson’s Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, announced the addition of Illinois transfer Aman Thornton to the Tigers’ program on Tuesday afternoon. Thornton will arrive in Clemson following a decorated start to his collegiate career while representing the Illini as a middle-distance runner.

Aman Thornton is set to join Clemson’s program following a decorated freshman season as a member of the Illinois track and field program… was named the Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Male Freshman of the Year following the 2021 indoor season… garnered a second-team All-B1G honor this past indoor season for the DMR… ranks No. 4 on Illinois’ all-time list for the indoor 600m (1:17.25)… was a part of the winning 4×400-meter relay at the 2021 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships… contested the 4x400m relay at the NCAA Preliminary West Region meet… earned his first collegiate victory while contesting the 600m at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational… went undefeated at 800m during his senior season (2019) at Mifflin HS… set a prep-best time of 1:51.16 for 800m en route to winning the 2019 OHSAA D1 State Track & Field Championships… will enter his time at Clemson with lifetime bests 47.50 for 400m, 1:17.25 for 600m, and 1:48.68 for 800m.
