Track And Field To Host Clemson Invitational This Weekend

The Clemson track and field teams will host the 2005 Clemson Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 21-22, at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Facility. The event will feature teams from Alabama, Auburn, East Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, NC State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. The Clemson Invitational will begin on Friday at 5:00 PM with the women’s weight throw and men’s distance medley relay and day one events will conclude with the men’s weight throw and women’s 5000m at 7:00 PM. On Saturday, the Clemson Invitational resumes with the men’s 60m hurdles final, men’s shot put, men’s high jump, women’s triple jump and women’s pole vault at 11:00 AM. The final event of the meet will be the women’s 4x400m relay at 3:20 PM.

Four Lady Tigers will begin competition in the weight throwat 5:00 PM. Della Clark, Krystal Woods, Mikaela Patterson and Allison Bradshaw will compete in the meet’s first field event. Clemson’s will field two teams in the distance medley relay event slated for 5:15 PM. Jennifer Barton, Sudati Masasu, Patrice McMillan and Casey Phillips will comprise the Clemson “A” team, while Lauren Brewer, Tia Perry, Laura Ann Rukat and LaToya Woodberry compete as Clemson “B”. At 5:45 PM, Renata Miyamoto, Renata Miyamoto and Michelle Rogers will compete in the long jump beginning at 6:30 PM.

On Saturday, Oliveira, Miyamoto and Rogers will contest the women’s triple jump at 11:00AM, and Della Clark and Jennifer Barton and Casey Phillips will be the final individuals to compete in an individual running event for the Lady Tigers as they compete in the 3000m at 2:30 PM. The 4x400m relay race slated for 3:20 PM will be the final event of the meet and will feature two Lady Tiger relay teams. Clemson’s “A” team will include Tia Perry, Ope Sobanjo and Daneille Whaley compete as Clemson “B”.

The Clemson men’s team will open competition with the distance medley relay at 5:00 PM on Friday. Clay Pendleton, Itay Magidi will comprise Clemson’s DMR team. At 5:35 PM, Roy Cheney, Brent Hobbs, Brent Hobbs, George Kitchens and Mickey Sheats will begin competition in the long jump. The 5000m will be the final men’s running event of the night, and Greg Isaacs, Matt Pimentel and Danny Alge and Derek Gilson will compete.

On Saturday, Clay Pendleton and Clay Pendleton, Roy Cheney and Warren Eure will take to the track in the final men’s running event at 3:00 PM.
