The Clemson track and field teams will host the 2004 Clemson Classic this Friday and Saturday at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Facility. The meet will begin at 6:00 PM Friday evening with the men’s and women’s mile run followed by the men’s and women’s 3000m run concluding at 6:45 PM. On Saturday, the 17-team meet continues at 10:00 AM with the women’s weight throw and the running events begin at 11:00 AM with the men’s distance medley relay. The meet will end with the women’s 4x400m relay at 4:50 PM.
For the Clemson women’s team, Christina Smith will represent the Lady Tigers in the 400m, and Marquita Dortch, Jelyn Quick and Nicholson will contest the 60m hurdles. Gisele Oliveira will compete in the long jump and triple jump, while Nicholson will compete in the long jump and Michelle Rogers will represent the Lady Tigers in the triple jump. Sara Young will compete in the pole vault, and Della Clark will compete in the shot put and weight throw.
On the men’s side, Tye Hill, Airese Currie and Ronald Richards will compete in the 60m dash, and those four will be joined by Lydell Perry in the 200m dash. In the 400m dash, Michael Bolling, Warren Eure, Rashad Gardner, Scott Kautz and Marquis Andrews will represent Clemson. Ahmad Rutherford will compete in the 800m run, Mike Foley will represent the Tigers in the mile run, and Eric Soder, Greg Isaacs will contest the 3000m run. Perry, Roy Cheney, Kautz and Gardner will compete in the 60m hurdles, and the Tigers will field three 4x400m relay teams. In the long jump, Jason Bell and George Kitchens will represent the Tigers, while Bell and Ben Daniels and Ryan Koontz will compete in the high jump and Nick Caramanico, Derek Gilson will represent Clemson in the shot put and Caramanico and Alge will also compete in the weight throw.
