Tigers Wrap Up Competition in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, TN – The Clemson women’s diving team came home Sunday after a three-day competition at the University of Tennessee Diving Invitational that helped prepare the team for conference and national competition in the coming weeks.

“As a whole, the Tiger divers continue to make great competitive adjustments,” Head Coach Leslie Hasselbach Adams said. “The pieces are starting to come together at the right time.  It is exciting to see the ladies hold on to their corrections from practice and make those same corrections in a competitive situation.  Now that they are becoming consistent in that area, we are able to work on the finishing details as we head into our championship segment of our season.”

Among some of the nation’s premier amateur divers, the Tigers acquitted themselves well. Clemson’s crew finished ahead of the other three conference competitors-Duke, North Carolina, and Virginia-in all three events when factoring in the top 16 ACC finishers.

The Tigers also made strides in the platform, with all four competitors – Jessica Doolittle, Megan Helwagen, Emily Howard, and Emily Yoder – posted season-best scores in the event.

Howard finished inside the top 25 in all three events. Juliana Melchionda and Elizabeth Tatum also posted top 25 scores in the three-meter.

The Tigers will now have a long layoff before hosting Davidson for Clemson’s only home meet this season on Saturday, January 26 in the team’s regular season finale.
