CLEMSON, S.C. – Five regular season meets, including the season opener at home, combine with two championship competitions to make up Clemson’s 2014 cross country schedule.
For the first time since 2011, the program returns to Musser Farms to hold a home meet on Saturday, Aug. 30. The facility, owned and operated by Clemson University, previously held meets for two years, including the 2011 ACC Championships.
“We’ll have a 5K for the women and a four-mile run for the men, which is close to an 8K,” said head coach Mark Elliott. “The peach farm is the perfect place to have a home meet. Our hope next year is to plug in a meet later in the season to give us two home dates.”
Following the Clemson Invitational, the Tigers head to Greenville for the Furman Classic on Sept. 13. The next three competitions are all preview meets. The Virginia Invitational on Sept. 26 gives the Tigers a glimpse of the ACC Championships course, while the Oct. 4 Louisville Invitational is set for the same venue that hosts the NCAA Southeast Regionals on Nov. 14. The Pre-Nationals are set for Oct. 18 in Terre Haute, Ind. Should Clemson advance to the NCAA Championships, the national meet is Nov. 22 at the same course.
