Tigers Travel to Texas for Aggie Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. — The men’s and women’s track & field teams travel to College Station, Texas, to take part in the two-day Aggie Invitational. The meet, hosted by Texas A&M University, features Clemson and seven schools from the Lone Star State in a scored team competition.

The Tigers begin action Friday evening with two events, the distance medley relays and 5000-meter runs. The women’s DMR is Clemson’s first scheduled event at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday is a full day for the Tiger teams. It gets underway at 12:30 p.m. with the women’s 60 hurdles, featuring top-20 ranked Samantha Elliott. Should she advance to the final, it will be held at 2:30. Also in the short sprints, Sabria Hadley leads a cast in the 60-meter dash prelims at 12:55. The final is set for 3:35.

Bowerman candidate Natoya Goule is set to run the open 400 for the second time this season. Earlier, she ran 53.68 at Virginia Tech, a top 20 time nationally. Goule is coming off an ACC-record time in the 800 at the Armory Track Invitational, and is the conference’s reigning Athlete of the Week. The 400 is set for 2:45.

Clemson has a full allotment of entries in the men’s 400, as well as the 200 and 800 for both genders. Tevin Hester, two-time ACC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week this season, leads the Tigers into action in the 200 at 4:30. The track events wrap up with the traditional 4×400 relays, set for 5:20 and 5:35.

In the field, Clemson has entered athletes in both the long jump and triple jump. Iana Amsterdam leads a group in the long jump at 1 p.m. Also in action Saturday are high jumper Torian Ware, and Clemson’s top thrower James Plummer.
