Tigers to Start Play in NCAA Tournament Saturday

CLEMSON –The Clemson men’s tennis team will play host to the first two rounds of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Tournament on May 15-16, at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center in Clemson, SC.

Duke and Charleston Southern will play at 10:00 p.m. and Clemson and William & Mary will play at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15 in first round action. The two winners will meet on Sunday, May 16, in the second round at 2:00 p.m. at Clemson.

The Clemson men’s tennis team will be making its 18th appearance in the tournament in the last 21 years. The NCAA men’s tennis tournament went to a team format in 1977, in addition to the individual singles and doubles championships. In the previous 17 appearances, Clemson has reached the final sixteen 11 times and the final eight six times.

Clemson is one of 16 sites conducting first and second round action. The winner at each 16 sites will advance to the University of Georgia on May 22-25.

The Tigers have a 20-11 record overall this season and are ranked 31st nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Tigers’ doubles team of Pablo Bellagamba and Josh Goffi are ranked 26th nationally.

Tickets for this event will be $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students college age (with ID) and under each day as set by the NCAA.
