CLEMSON, SC – The Tiger swimming and diving teams will play host to the Florida State Seminoles tomorrow morning in an ACC dual meet at McHugh Natatorium. The first event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. The Tigers are looking to bounce back from a season opening defeat at the hands of the Virginia Cavaliers. Both the Florida State men’s and women’s teams enter the weekend with 4-0 records. The Seminoles will be swimming in Clemson after a Friday night meet against Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
This weekend’s meet will feature Drew Scheerhorn, last week’s ACC men’s swimmer of the week. Scheerhorn, a sophomore, swam a lifetime best in the 100 free (46.61) last week against Virginia and recorded a personal best freestyle split time of 45.24 in the 400 medley relay. Kate Walker will look to lead the women this weekend. Walker, a sophomore, had a part in two Tiger victories against Virginia. Walker won the 200 breast with a time of 2:05.47 and helped the 400 medley relay team to a first-place finish in a time of 3:48.69.
Coy Cobb Memorial Scoreboard Dedication Ceremony A special scoreboard dedication ceremony will be held during the second break of the meet at approximately 11:30 a.m. Fans may remember All-American swimmer Coy Cobb and the stellar career he had at Clemson from 1981-85. Coy was taken from the Clemson family earlier this year after a battle with brain cancer. A new scoreboard dedicated in his memory will be unveiled at the meet on Saturday.
