• Clemson will face Furman on Friday in the second of a three-game series with the Paladins. The Tigers won last season in Clemson by a score of 59-49 behind a career-high 22 points from Milton Jennings.
• This will be the first time the two teams have met at Furman since 1992-93, when Clemson won 82-59 behind five players in double figures, led by Andre Bovain with a game-high 18 points. The game was played at Memorial Auditorium, the Paladins’ home prior to Timmons Arena. This will be Clemson’s first game played in Timmons.
• Clemson leads the overall series 97-51, including 40-30 at Furman, but the two teams have played in Greenville just once since the 1988-89 season.
• The Tigers have won 28 straight in the series, with the most recent loss to Furman coming in the 1977-78 season.
• In last year’s game against the Paladins, Jennings added 14 rebounds in arguably the most impressive statistical outing of his 96-game career.
• Clemson shot 61 percent in the second half and tallied an 18-to-6 assist-to-turnover ratio en route to a 77-44 win over Presbyterian in its season opener. The Tigers also held the Blue Hose to 30 percent shooting from the floor. It was Clemson’s 28th consecutive win in a season opener.
• Jennings led the Tigers in points (15), rebounds (6) and steals (2) and was one of three players – along with senior Devin Booker and freshman Jordan Roper – in double figures.
• Booker went over the 500 career rebound mark in the win over Presbyterian, and is fourth among active ACC players in the statistical category.
• With the win over Presbyterian, Clemson improved to 14-1 under Head Coach Brad Brownell when holding the opposition to 50 points or less.
• Furman enters Friday’s game with a 1-1 record, having defeated Southern Wesleyan 90-71 on Tuesday at home. The Paladins lost to Columbia at home, 68-47, in their season opener last Friday.
• A familiar name to Clemson fans will be on Furman’s bench Friday. Shammond Williams, former guard at the University of North Carolina, is an assistant coach for the Paladins. He is originally from the Greenville area.
