Tigers Sign Three Divers for 2015-16

CLEMSON, S.C., – The Clemson women’s diving program signed three divers for the 2015-16 season, announced Head Coach Leslie Hasselbach Adams on Monday. Sarah Blank (Midland, Texas), Jaya Brown (Fishers, Ind.) and Erin Lee (Huntersville, N.C.) signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Clemson program in the fall of 2015.

“I am thrilled that these tremendous young ladies chose to start the next chapter in their academic and athletic careers wearing orange and purple,” said Adams. “Each of them is eager to start their career here, which is a direct reflection of the passion they have for their sport, their desire to improve and their eyes looking at the road ahead. They will indeed represent the Paw with pride, and I am excited to see how their legacy unfolds here as Clemson Tigers.”

Blank, a native of Midland, Texas, dives for the City of Midland age group program and has qualified for the USA Diving Junior Zone Championship meet. She has also competed in the USA Diving Senior National Preliminary Championship meet in both the one-meter and three-meter events.

Adams on Blank:“Sarah is an awesome young lady that has a strong internal drive and focus. She is a smooth and powerful diver and will make an immediate impact. Sarah has a bright future ahead and we are thrilled to lead her to next level.”

A member of Indiana International Diving Academy, Brown is a two-time USA Diving Junior National Qualifier and a two-time USA Diving Spring Junior East Championship qualifier. The Fishers, Ind. native has also competed in the USA Diving Senior National Preliminary Championship meet. She earned all-state honors in 2011-12 while competing for Hamilton Southeastern High School.

Adams on Brown:“Jaya has a contagious spirit that will be a welcome addition to our program. She is the type of diver who is strong and powerful, which is one of her many assets! The sky is the limit for this young lady, and she is ready to come in and make an immediate impact in our program.”

Lee has qualified for the USA Diving Junior Zone Championship meet several times in her diving career.  The Huntersville, N.C. native has also competed in the one-meter and three-meter events at the USA Diving Senior National Preliminary Championship meet two consecutive years, and has qualified for the AAU National Championship meet several times.  Lee was the runner-up in the one-meter at the 1A/2A North Carolina State Championship meet for her Lake Norman Charter team in 2013-14.

Adams on Lee:“Erin is a fantastic addition to our Clemson Diving family. She has a strong work ethic in the classroom as well as in the pool, and has a great level of composure in practice and competition. Erin is ready to make an impact as soon as she steps on campus and we are ready for her to get here!”

The Tigers are currently 3-0 on the young 2014 season and return to the boards on Nov. 20-23 at the Georgia Tech Invitational and the Pitt Panther Invitational.
