Clemson, S.C. – The Clemson cross country teams are set to take to the course at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va. for the NCAA Southeast regional championships on Friday. The meet will feature the men’s team racing the 10k distance and the women competing at the 6k distance. This will be the first time this season the men will race over a 10k course. Competition will start with the women’s 6k at 10:30 a.m., with the men’s 10k to follow at 11:30 a.m.

Last time out, both cross country squads competed at the ACC Championships, where Logan Morris and John Ward paced the way for the women’s and men’s teams, respectively. Morris was the highest-placing finisher for Clemson, crossing in 24th place with a time of 21:33.1. Ward traversed the 8k course in a time of 25:49.2, making it the third time this season that Ward broke the 26-minute barrier.

At last year’s Southeast regional competition, Morris qualified for the NCAA Championships by finishing sixth in 20:01.4. Morris’ qualification to the national meet was the second time in three years that Clemson had qualified an individual for the national championships. The top-2 teams from each regional competition will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, with 13 teams receiving at-large bids after all regional competitions are concluded.
