Audra Smith’s women’s basketball team had its best-ever grade point average in a semester on record with a 2.89 team average in the spring. Team grade point average records date to the fall 1987 (28 years). The program also claimed a 2013-14 Academic Progress Rate score of 980 out of 1000. Seven members of the program earned Honor Roll (3.0) or higher GPAs during the semester.
“I am so proud of our program,” said Smith. “This is a testament to the hard work by our student-athletes. We set a high standard in this program academically. I want to thank our advisor Luke Fieser, along with the rest of the Vickery Hall staff, for helping our group of women achieve this historical mark. This sends a powerful message to our seven incoming players of the standards that we are setting. I look forward to challenging the team to go even higher as we continue to set our building blocks in place.”
In the most recent academic year, each of the Tiger seniors, Nikki Dixon and Chelsea Lindsay, earned their respective degrees in May as well. Dixon, Clemson’s fifth all-time leading scorer, tallied a 3.30 in her final semester, while Lindsay made the Dean’s List with a 3.66.
