Tigers Ranked #23 in Sports Weekly Preseason Coaches Baseball Poll

Clemson is ranked #23 in Sports Weekly’s 2012 preseason coaches baseball poll, released on Thursday. Florida is atop the poll, followed by #2 South Carolina, #3 Stanford, #4 North Carolina, and #5 Texas. Other ACC teams ranked in the top 25 include #9 Florida State, #10 Georgia Tech, #13 Miami (FL), and #17 Virginia.

In December, Collegiate Baseball ranked the Tigers #25 in its preseason poll, then Baseball America ranked Clemson #16 in its preseason poll earlier this week. Clemson had a 43-20 overall record in 2011 and returns 20 lettermen, including All-ACC players Phil Pohl (UT) and Richie Shaffer (3B/1B).

The Tigers, who will hold their first preseason practice on Friday, will open the 2012 season on February 17 against UAB at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
