Tigers Past & Present in Action

CLEMSON, S.C. — A large group of current and former Clemson athletes are in Eugene, Ore., for the USA Junior and Senior Championships this weekend, starting with preliminary action Thursday. In addition, two members of the 2015 women’s track & field team are in Kingston for the Jamaican National Championships.

Current student-athletes Sabria Hadley, Tevin Hester and Justin Johnson are joined by former Tiger greats Spencer Adams, Miller Moss, Brianna Rollins and April Sinkler at the USA Championships at Oregon’s Hayward Field. All of the athletes, with the exception of Rollins, are vying for spots at the IAAF World Championships, held Aug. 22-30 in Beijing, China. Rollins is the defending champion of the women’s 100 hurdles, winning the event in 2013 to earn the automatic berth on Team USA for 2015.

Two Clemson freshmen — Cordell Lamb and Katie Moses — will vie for bids to the Pan American Junior Championships in Edmonton, Canada from July 31 to Aug. 2. In both the junior and senior competitions, the top three finishers in each event earn spots on Team USA’s roster. In all events, qualifying standards must be met.

Samantha Elliott and Natoya Goule are bidding for spots on Jamaica’s national team. Goule, three-time NCAA Champion, competed for her native country at the 2013 World Championships in Russia.
