Tigers Passed Over For NIT

March 16, 2003

The Clemson men’s basketball team was not extended a bid to the Owens Corning National Invitational Tournament on Sunday night. The Tigers finished the 2002-2003 season 15-13 overall.

“We are very disappointed that we were not selected for the NIT,” said head coach Larry Shyatt. “I thought our players deserved an invitation. I am disappointed for the entire team, but especially for the seniors. I am surprised. It is very rare for an ACC team with a .500 or better record not to be invited since the NIT went to 32 teams in 1980.”
