CLEMSON, S.C. — The Tigers (10-13, 2-10 ACC) won a tightly contested 4-2 decision on Monday afternoon against UNC Wilmington (12-5, 1-0 CAA) to close out the regular season. After losing the doubles point against the Seahawks, Jorge Plans Gonzalez picked up some momentum for the Tigers, tying the match at one-all, with a 6-4, 6-1 win on Court 5. Spencer Whitaker went on to win his match on court six, 6-4, 6-3 to give the Tigers a lead. Shortly after, No. 118 Teodor Giusca won on Court 4, 6-4, 6-3. The Seahawks made it 3-2 before Ryuhei Azuma sealed the victory for the Tigers with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 at line three.
The Tigers travel to Rome, Georgia to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in the first round of the ACC tournament on Thursday, April 22. First serve for that match is slated for 5:00 pm.
