CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson diving team continues its regular season competitive schedule when it travels to Athens, Ga. to compete in the UGA Diving Invite on Sunday, Jan. 3 through Tuesday, Jan. 5. It is the first meet the team will participate in since late November, and marks the conclusion of the holiday break and team training trip.

The Georgia Diving Invitational features, in addition to the Tigers and host Georgia, Auburn, Drexel, Illinois, LSU, Minnesota, Missouri, NC State, SMU and Tennessee.

In its last meet, Clemson split the team and sent divers to the Nike Cup in Chapel Hill, N.C. and the Georgia Tech Invite in Atlanta, Ga. At the Nike Cup, freshman Caylin Hirapara shined, garnering NCAA Zone B qualifying scores, as well as season-best scores, in all three events she entered. She is the only Tiger to qualify for the Zone meet in all three events so far this season. Overall, five Clemson divers posted season-best scores in the one-meter and three-meter events. Clemson placed third overall with 81 team points, finishing behind nationally-ranked North Carolina (#2) and Duke (#21) and ahead of six other opponents, including NC State (#10).

At the Georgia Tech Invite, Danielle Reitsma paced the Tigers, finishing seventh out of the field of 44 divers with a 237.65 in the platform competition. The score qualified her for a spot in the NCAA Zone B competition in the event, which is the second Zone-qualifying mark she garnered this season. The Tigers finished ninth overall, earning 32 team points, out the field of 16 competing teams.
