Tigers in the Pros: April 15-21

The Tigers’ presence was felt around the nation this week as eight former #ClemsonUnited players saw professional action over the weekend.

Major League Soccer (MLS)

Tommy McNamara (’13) made his first start of the season in the Houston Dynamo’s 1-2 loss to Los Angeles on April 20. The midfielder tallied a shot in 70 minutes of action against the Galaxy.

Joe Bendik (Columbus Crew SC), Diego Campos (Chicago Fire) and Andrew Tarbell (San Jose Earthquakes) all served as reserve options over the weekend.

United Soccer League (USL)

Paul Clowes (’15) started for Greenville in a 1-0 loss to the Richmond Knickers. The 2015 Clemson graduate played all 90 minutes at midfield.

Amadou Dia (’14) started and played a full 90 minutes in Phoenix Rising FC’s 4-0 victory over Tacoma on April 20.

Kyle Fisher (’15) played all 90 minutes for Birmingham Legion FC in the club’s 0-0 draw with the Swope Park Rangers on April 20.

Phanuel Kavita (‘14) started his seventh game of the season for Saint Louis FC, playing all 90 minutes in the team’s 0-0 draw with Pittsburgh.

Jack Metcalf (’13) helped Atlanta United 2 to a 2-1 victory over North Carolina FC on April 20, seeing 57 minutes of action on the pitch.

Cody Mizell (’12) totaled four saves on six shots faced in New Mexico United’s 2-1 loss to Reno 1868 FC on April 20.

Kyle Murphy (’15) recorded his first goal of the season in Loudoun United’s 3-1 defeat of the New York Red Bulls II. Murphy notched Loudoun’s third goal of the game with a header in the 78th minute.
