Tigers in the NFL: Week 6

Former Clemson players had a big day in the NFL over the weekend of October 18. In terms of receiving, six former Tigers combined for 29 receptions for 420 yards and five touchdowns.

The group was led by DeAndre Hopkins of the Houston Texans, who had 10 receptions for 148 yards and two touchdowns. According to one source, he is the first player in NFL history to have at least nine catches for 145 yards in three consecutive games. Through six games he leads the NFL with 726 reception yards, 42 first-down catches, and is second with 53 total receptions.

Martavis Bryant of the Pittsburgh Steelers played in his first game of the year on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals and had six catches for 137 yards and two scores, including an 88-yard touchdown reception. It was the longest touchdown reception in the NFL so far this year.

Watch this 100 times. You still won’t figure out how Martavis Bryant got his leg down for a TD. WOW. #AZvsPIT http://t.co/rmFfSpOYwy

Sammy Watkins also had a touchdown for the Buffalo Bills and had four catches for 48 yards in just one half of play before he suffered an ankle sprain.

On the other side of the football, three different former Tigers had an interception on Sunday. Bashaud Breeland of the Washington Redskins had an interception, a caused fumble and two fumble recoveries in the first half against the New York Jets. He is the first Washington Redskins player in at least 15 years to have an interception and two fumble recoveries in a half.

1 pick. 2 fumble recoveries. 2 passes defensed. 1 heck of a day for @Salute_me17: https://t.co/3odycvXuak https://t.co/y72b7YSmJ4
