CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson diving team is set to host Georgia Southern on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. at McHugh Natatorium for its first non-exhibition home meet of the season. The meet will be preceded with a 10-15 minute recognition of the team’s five graduating senior members: Tabitha Banks (Lilburn, Ga.), Katie Barolak (Woodlands, TX), Megan Helwagen (Mason, Ohio), Juliana Melchionda (Braintree, Mass.) and Jessica Resler (Regina, Saskatchewan).
In its last meet, Clemson’s diving team participated in the UGA Diving Invite at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga. as part of a three-day, 13-team meet that included the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Drexel, Illinois, Iowa State, LSU, Minnesota, Missouri, NC State, SMU and Tennessee, in addition to the Tigers and host Georgia. The team placed fourth, scoring a total of 132.5 competition points and garnering the program’s best-ever finish at the meet.
Danielle Reitsma starred for Clemson, tallying a 237.30 and finishing fifth overall in the platform event. The score is the highest mark this season scored by a Tiger diver in the event. It is also Reitsma’s third NCAA Zone-qualifying score, as she joins Megan Helwagen and Caylin Hirapara as the only divers to achieve three zone-qualifying scores so far in 2015-16.
In its last two meets against Georgia Southern, Clemson is 2-0 with the most recent being a 30-8 victory in Statesboro, Ga. on Nov. 8 of last year.
