Tigers Hold Family Day in Littlejohn

CLEMSON, S.C. — The men’s basketball program held its third annual “family day” on Saturday. The Tigers held their third intrasquad scrimmage in the morning and followed with lunch in Burton Gallery, as head coach Brad Brownell welcomed the families of his players and staff.

“We always enjoy parents weekend. For us, we set aside a day where we have practice and get all the parents together to introduce all the new kids to the Clemson basketball family,” said Brownell. “We’re able to spend a little time together and share a meal and just talk about where we are as a program.

There were lots of standouts from the Tigers’ scrimmage on Saturday with players switching back and forth between an orange team and a purple team. Redshirt freshman Anthony Oliver II posted 25 total points on 8-for-11 shooting from the floor (all from three-point land.)

Veteran guards Marcquise Reed and Gabe DeVoe both posted 20+ points during the action, while Reed finished a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul line. Last season, Reed finished 12th in the country in free throw percentage (90.6).

In the frontcourt, veteran forward Elijah Thomas put up 22 points and hauled in six rebounds – five coming on the offensive glass.

“Certainly I’m super excited about this year’s team with the leadership our older players have given. I’m excited about the enthusiasm that our young players have brought and their willingness to be led. This was another great day for another great year of Clemson basketball that is about to start.”

The Tigers host Augusta University in a public exhibition on Thursday, Nov. 2, and open the regular season eight days later against Western Carolina on Nov. 10. Tickets are on sale by calling 1-800-CLEMSON or visiting ClemsonTigers.com.
