CLEMSON – The Clemson men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are both in contention after the first day of action at the 2010 Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta. The men’s squad is in fourth place with 189 points, while the women’s team is in seventh place and has 92 points.
The men got off to a fast start, as the 200 freestyle relay team of Eric Bruck, Myles Oliver, Seth Broster, and Chris Dart took second place with an NCAA-B time of 1:20.62. Bruck’s leadoff split of 20.29 seconds was also an NCAA-B cut time. Bruck also finished in second place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.31 seconds.
In the 200 IM, Dart finished in fifth place with a time of 1:49.83, and Lucas Gerotto came in eighth with a time of 1:52.23. Also, the 400 medley relay team of Dart, Anderson Sloan, Broster, and Bruck posted a time of 3:18.99, which was good for third place.
On the women’s side, the 200 freestyle relay team consisting of Meg Anderson, Kelsey Krauss, Maddie Tarantolo, and Ali Polhill came in sixth place with a time of 1:35.08. Anderson also finished in eighth place with a time of 23.28 seconds in the 50 freestyle.
The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday for the second day of the three-day event.
